They are famous the world over for their Burnt Almond Torte. Others may copy it, but they just can't duplicate it. Debbie usually pretends she is buying an assortment of treats for her family, but she actually eats them herself by the time she hits Fifth Avenue. Also a favorite spot in Shadyside is The Crepe Place - you gotta go down a few steps to find this secret place, with crepes that are to die for. It has become a favorite tradition for the McManus children - they usually have their faces pressed against the glass watching their crepes being made. The Oakmont Bakery makes a cake called the Oakmonter - Don't leave yourself home alone with this creation, because you will eat the entire cake by yourself. Ask Debbie. | |||||
